Kronosaurus Korner – FREE EVENT
Dive into the world of prehistoric oceans with this fascinating palaeontologist panel at Kronosaurus Korner. Hosted by renowned palaeo-illustrator Zev Landes, the session brings together Zak Hayman, Rhys Meyerkort and Christina Nielsen-Smith — each offering a unique perspective on Australia’s ancient marine life.
Zak Hayman brings hands-on field experience and insights into fossil discovery, Rhys Meyerkort shares expertise in collection management and the interpretation of marine reptile fossils, while Christina Nielsen-Smith, a science communicator and PhD student in Palaeontology, will be talking about Kronosaurus queenslandicus, the famous Australian pliosaur, as well as trophic interactions in the Eromanga basin.
Together, they’ll explore the formidable sea creatures that once ruled the Eromanga Sea — including iconic predators like Kronosaurus — and share what it’s like to uncover, study and bring these ancient worlds back to life. This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from the next generation of scientists and storytellers shaping Queensland’s deep-time marine story.
