Queensland’s BIG Palaeo Stories – Dinosaur Hunting and Deep-Time in Capricornia

James Lawrence Pavilion, Rockhampton Showgrounds – Free Event!

Will you be the next great central Queensland dinosaur hunter?
Join Dr Scott for a special closing Dinosaur Week event as he celebrates Queensland’s extraordinary prehistoric heritage and the important role Rockhampton and Central Queensland have played in shaping Australia’s globally important palaeontological story.

Dr Scott will take the audience on a journey through the deep-time history of the Capricorn region, from ancient seas and early reptiles to dinosaurs and megafauna, spanning hundreds of millions of years. 150 years ago, local Rockhampton naturalists and palaeontologists started sharing their discoveries at the Rockhampton School of Arts, putting central Queensland on the scientific map. Today, new technologies and fresh discoveries are helping scientists revisit these remarkable fossil records and uncover new clues about ancient environments and the animals that lived here. But the next big fossil discovery and future palaeontologist needs to come from a young central Queensland explorer and scientist – will it be you?

Meet Dr Scott! Have you ever wanted to be a palaeontologist? Bring along your favourite fossils and palaeontology questions for a Q&A with Dr Scott after the presentation.
